This summer: hell comes to the Duke Hotel, and the only man there to stop is supposed to have the day off.

Duncan John Reyneke: Author

Duncan Reyneke is a South African writer, living in the United States. He is the author of Nails in the Sky and Bay City Monsters.

Nails in the Sky

  • Alex van der Haar had everything going for him. A great family. A tight circle of friends and a wonderful girlfriend. Then Chuck Daedalus showed up, people started disappearing, and, somehow, he was in the middle of something much bigger than himself.
And the only question left became: could he get back out again?

Bay City Monsters

  • When Paul Goddard became concierge at the rundown Duke Hotel, he’d pretty much dedicated himself to a quiet, underachieving life. Too bad for him, then, when he meets an enigmatic hunter of mystical artifacts and literal monsters chasing her.
Can Paul help Cheri escape the forces of darkness? Find out, in Bay City Monsters, by Duncan Reyneke.

Bay City Monster Reviews

I couldn’t put it down (even at the ultraviolent parts). Bay City Monsters is an action-packed, funny, weirdly sexual book, and I highly recommend it to fans of science fiction and adventure.

James Matanzas

So weird. So weird! But good - like, I liked it a lot, actually. The characters are funny and really human, which makes them a lot of fun to read. The book is set in South Africa but honestly this could have been set in the US and it would work just as well. It’s really good, and I don’t even read much as a general hobby.

Holly Miller

This book is crazy. Paul Goddard’s this concierge at a hotel, and Cheri’s like a weird dark magic thief...girl. And they run around chasing zombies from hell and there’s eight million twists - SERIOUSLY!!!! Duncan Reyneke clearly loves horror or something, but the book’s also SO funny! I’d recommend this to a friend, but NOT to my mom (adult content - beware!)

An ex-newspaper journalist and English teacher, he has been a contributing writer to every publication he can lay his hands on for the last decade. His degree in English literature from Rhodes University and a voracious appetite for books, television, comics, and music might be to blame for his obsessive writing, but it’s the support of his friends, family, and loving wife, Sharon, that keeps him plugged into his literature and working hard..
